Toddy Smart Cloth

Microfiber Screen Cleaner

One Hot Toddy

We spend so much of our day peering at screens -- smartphones, tablets, e-readers and TVs -- isn’t it time we see that world more clearly? The Toddy smart cloth is a safe, stylish way to take the oily fingerprints, smudges and smears off your screens and lenses, without harsh liquid cleansers. It’s double-sided, with a plush microfiber side for cleaning and buffing, and a silk microfiber side for polishing. Each Toddy cloth is also treated with an antimicrobial coating to resist bacterial growth that can lead to mold and mildew.

The founder of Toddy Gear is entrepreneur Todd Gabel, who envisioned cloths that look as good as the cool gadgets they’re keeping clean. The dapper prints and hip colors mean you’ll never mistake your Toddy for some tired, old rag in a cleaning closet. These cloths look more like a part of your wardrobe (some guys even use them as pocket squares) than a cleaning accessory. That’s just what Todd intended. After all, we invest a lot in our electronic gadgets. It only makes sense to put some effort into their protection.

Grommet Launch Conversation

    Hi Daily Grommet fans, It's not hard to understand what inspired me to create Toddy Gear-- all of today's touch screen devices are as grimy as they are amazing. One day I was in a meeting looking around at all of the filthy smudges, oily fingerprints, and sneezy splotches on the mobile devices around me and said "yuck." It was that "it-looks-gross-when-it's-turned-off" thing that inspired me to find a better solution. The Toddy Gear Smart Cloths are practical and stylish for men and women. Let me know what you think of them. I am here to answer any questions you have.

    Love the look, but at this price are they at least machine washable? And if so, how well do they perform after repeated washings?

    @Melanie Shellito: Yes, all the Toddys are machine washable. The Toddy will withstand up to 30 washer and dryer cycles. Even better, the anti-microbial coating will not be affected.

    I love it, especially as a gift idea! Do these really clean with just wiping? I get little black specks that come off only by scraping with a fingernail. Also, other microfiber cloths I've used require HARD rubbing, and or a spritz of liquid cleaner or water, for some smudges, especially on my laptop. Does the Toddy clean BETTER than the others? If so, how does it do so?

    @Jane: Thank you, and they do really clean by just wiping. We use a very high grade of microfiber on both sides of the cloth. The pattern side (silk side) is the same microfiber you get with a new pair of glasses, so it's easy to pinch between your fingers to clean small delicate items. The other side (plush side) is thicker, more towel like. Microfiber is a petroleum base product which means it's hydrophilic and it naturally absorbs oil and grease left behind from our face or fingers. Microfiber is thinner than human hair, so small particles are swept into the fiber. When I use my Toddy on my iPad, I use a little pressure to remove smudges, but not hard at all. Yesterday, something ended up on my iPad that was kinda thicker than a normal smudge, so what I did was put a tiny bit of water on the Toddy worked a little harder on that section - it came off no problem at all!

    @Maragret: Here's what Apple suggests:

    To clean iPad, unplug all cables and turn off iPad (press and hold the Sleep/ Wake button, then slide the onscreen slider). Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth preferably a Toddy (ha ha, I added that). Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean iPad. iPad has an oleophobic coating on the screen; simply wipe the iPad screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands. The ability of this coating to repel oil will diminish over time with normal usage, and rubbing the screen with an abrasive material will further diminish its effect and may scratch your screen.

    Is the mix-n-match set three random designs? Or actually the designs that are shown in the picture?
