Style Your Storage

It’s easy to lose control of a mudroom or coat closet when footwear and accessories start piling up. With today’s Grommet, you can turn an eyesore into a design opportunity. Montreal designer Anne Thomas created a line of hip storage products for coats, boots, scarves and more. Her TOMA pieces are the perfect blend of artistry and function. Like the Two Loops and Three Loops accessory hangers: The birch shapes are a beauty to look at, and the benefit of having your accessories all in one place seals the deal. And for boots? You’ll be floored when you see TOMA’s geometric footwear mats. They’re anything but boring slabs of rubber (the same water drop motif is available in TOMA’s thermal grocery bags). Don’t leave your style at the door -- bring it into the closet and the mudroom.

Bonjour! My name is Anne Thomas and I'm a graphic designer based in Montreal, Canada. I began creating objects for my clients as corporate gifts. The interest generated led to expanding my activities to promote my own marketplace. In recent years, my team and I created various collections of objects for everyday use and made them commercially available. Clocks, flower vases, placemats, glassware, shopping bags and, the latest, the 'Inside Out' collection, designed for your home entrance. All objects have a common thread: a hint of humor and a dash of ingenuity.

Here today on Daily Grommet, you will see our coat hangers, accessory hangers, footwear mats and our new thermo shopping bags. These objects were designed to really catch your eye while having true usefulness.

I'm online today to answer any questions you may have!

    Hello Dephs

Yes they have a practical use

The loop on the coat hanger is put with your coat a scarf, a hat, your gloves or an umbrella.

The accessory hangers is great for scarves, belts, ties and necklaces.

Everything is stored all together and it doesn't take a lot of space.

These hangers are lovely, practical, and truly works of art. I think the mat is stunning as well. But as works of art, they aren't accessible to many in this price range. I do hope that in the near future you will work with a large manufacturer/retailer in order to being your designs to the masses.

    @Titus: Hello Titus,

Thank you for your compliments. To answer your concern, we are presently producing in small quantities because

it is a new product but in the future this will change ;-)

By the way, the footwear mat are made out of a material produce in USA and they are molded in Canada.

It is every designers goal to have a product mass produced. I have a dream...

@Anne Thomas: I wish you great success in your dream. When you do reach mass production, your products will be prominently featured at our small nonprofit. Our childish cloak room is in constant disarray, but we have volunteers in rushes, doffing clothing appropriate to the CO Rockies. All of which we need to keep up high & safe from the younger pups in chewing phases. Where might I sign up for your mailing list? I'd like to follow your dream.

Please describe the thermo bags - What are they made of? How do they keep things cold and for how long (will ice cream stay frozen for an hour in them?). Do they have a closure?

Where can I see other things you have designed.

@sfnative: Hi, the thermo bag is made of 50%polyester +50%polyethylene. It has a strong zipper to close the bag and seatbelt cotton handles. The thermo bag can keep your food cold for a few hours but it is not a freezer so if you put something frozen and you want to leave it there for a long time I would add an icepack same as you would do with a picnic bag. You can see our other collections on our website www.tomaobjects.com

All I have to say is are you kidding me? The price of $42.00 for 2 hangers, that could feed a hungry family for a few days. You are charging that for 2 hangers? And to try to justify this terrible on your part. The Thermo bags are made of two of the most environmentally destructive materials, polyester and polyethylene. I'm sorry I used to shop the grommet because I thought most of the items were enviromnmentally friendly, unique and everyday items with a purpose. This one just angers me. And we are cutting down trees to make them to boot.
