Hello everyone! I'm proud to introduce Elvie pelvic floor trainer to The Grommet. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have!
-
I seen this in The Oscars! An amazing idea. I could do with help with my kegels. What is it made of? Does it pulse for you? Thanks! Robs
-
@Robin thanks for your questions. Elvie is covered in medical grade silicone which means it's very simple to clean- just wash with mild soap and warm water before and after use. Elvie does not do Kegels for you, but helps you build strength by measuring your squeezes and giving real time feedback via the app. As you move up the levels more games will be introduced to keep you motivated to beat your personal best!
Suzanne -
@Suzanne hi, I have many questions and this is very expensive! I use to do keels but after 5 vaginal births to my daughters, a horrible hysterectomy and bladder sling put in with pig ligaments, then screws put in my SI joint, a network disc in the middle of my back with spacers and the the final thing a Medtronic Box with all my spine that shock me all day. I still had sex at the age of 50 every day and only a little urine leakage. Now from a large needle injection in my tallbone I can't do kegels anymore, have trouble holding urine and contracting my vagania.... forget it. This I think would be prefect but the cost is high and also I want to know can I use it if I have a Medtronic Box inside my back? Thank you if you if can help me and no I don't want to go to doctor, lol, take care, Lyn
-
@Lyn hi, thanks for your questions. As Elvie is a passive device that measures pelvic floor muscle movement, users do need to be able to contract their pelvic floor muscles in order to use it. You mentioned that you have trouble contracting your vagina, so Elvie might not be the product for you at this time. However if there is a point in the future where you are recommended to do Kegels then Elvie certainly could be useful for you, in conjunction with advice from your doctor. I hope this helps, do let me know if you need further clarification.
-
Well this was a surprise when it popped up on my inbox this morning. At first I was a little offended when I thought that The Gromment thought I was female, but then I realized Elvie is a line of Feminine products that was, somehow, named after me. Don't feel so bad now. Just a little weird. ????????
-
@EL Ha! Grommet CEO here. I like your spin on the potential but certainly unintended offense. We try to use the info you provide when you subscribe for our email to determine gender. But we don't always know otherwise, so please bear with us if we send you something irrelevant in the future...or consider it a potential gift suggestion!
-
This may sound like a silly & dumb question, but do you insert elvie inside your vajaja to use ?
-
@Patricia not at all! You do insert Elvie into your vagina, leaving the tail outside (like a tampon)
-
Question:
Is Item Covered By Medicare? -
@Marjorie hi, unfortunately we're not aware of an insurance provider that covers Elvie at this time
-
is this recommended for use during pregnancy?
-
@jessica Hi, you can use Elvie during pregnancy as long as you are not suffering from any complications. The FDA has conducted a full review of Elvie and provided no contraindications cautioning use during pregnancy. Every pregnancy is unique so if you are unsure please consult your qualified medical professional before use.
-
This looks interesting. Do you have any scientific studies to back up this trainer? Does regular use reduce stress incontinence symptoms?
-
@Yvette Hi! Kegels have been shown to significantly reduce the effects of stress incontinence and many doctors and health organisations worldwide recommend that women do Kegels regularly.
However, women often don't know how to do the exercises, or find it hard to stay motivated. Elvie tells you if you're exercising correctly (1 in 3 women push down instead of lifting) and measures the strength of your squeezes, allowing you to track your progress in the companion app. This kind of instant biofeedback is proven to be the most effective way of encouraging regular and effective exercise but was mostly used in a hospital setting...until now! -
Hi Suzanne,
I'm just wondering if this product would help rejuvenate me regarding the loss of sexual pleasure. I'm 54, on hormone replacement therapy to help with pain during sex, but I have found I have lost sensation "down there", other than feeling irritation. Would this product help me in any way in that regard? Many thanks, Lisa -
@Lisa Thanks for your question. Elvie is designed to help women reap the benefits of regular pelvic floor exercise which includes better bladder control a stronger core and (yes!) improved sex. Kegel exercises strengthen the pelvic floor muscles which are the same muscles that contract when you orgasm so there is certainly a connection. However if you are feeling pain and irritation I would advise your consult your doctor before using Elvie, as with any pelvic health condition. I hope this helps!
-
I already have issues with bladder leaks. Is it too late to use Ellie?
-
@Debbie Hi, not at all! Kegels have been shown to significantly reduce the effects of incontinence and many doctors and health organisations worldwide recommend them as the first option for women who have issues with bladder leaks. As with any pelvic health condition do consult your medical professional first, but if pelvic floor exercises are recommended for you then it sounds like Elvie is a good fit.
-
I just wanted to add some masculine emphasis here about how important, and easily overlooked, this type of exercise is. My wife had real problems with her pelvic floor after our last child was born. Incontinence was a real issue. She started doing these exercises and after about a month, her bladder control started to improve.
But the hidden up side was in her sexuality and self body view.
I will be buying one of these come payday as a gift to my wife to help encourage her to continue to do her exercises.
I want to thank the designers and builders of this tool for making this a tool and not going down the path of "toy." And I can tell all the perspective feminine buyers out there, that if they use this regular, your lover will certainly take a deep notice!
Jeff -
@Jeff Thanks for your input Jeff! We're committed to opening up a conversation about how important pelvic floor exercise is at all stages of life, but especially during pregnancy and after childbirth. As you say, confidence is a real issue for many women experiencing leaking and our message is that it doesn't have to be that way. I'm delighted to hear your wife saw improvements so quickly after getting into a good exercise routine

Does anyone have a male Kegel excercise product? I am recovering from a radical prostatectomy, and need a device to aid in Kegel excercising!
-
@William Your medical professional might have some recommendations for male Kegel exercise products- best of luck in finding one that is helpful for you
-
@Suzanne So is your answer to this question a definite "No"? Do you know of any male kegel exercise products?
-
@John Not a definite no by any means- it's just not our area of expertise! I would advise men looking for exercise products for a specific health concern to consult their health professional who will be best placed to make a recommendation
-
This sounds great. I have a concern however. I do not have an Iphone or Android. Can I still use this and does it have a lithium battery? Thank you for any help you can give me.
Arlene -
@Arlene Elvie is compatible with iPhone 4S and newer, iPad 3 and newer and Android phones and tablets with 4.3 and newer. Elvie has a lithium ion battery which is rechargeable. I hope this helps!
-
Do you offer a refund, if after using the product according to instructions, I get no relief from leakage?
-
@Joan Hi Joan -- while typically we prefer returns to be unopened and in re-sellable condition, we do not want you to have something for which you do not have use. We are able to process returns on this item, even though it is not re-sellable if opened.
