Hi, I'm Joanna Griffiths and excited to share with you our 8-in-1 Evolution bra. It's designed to fit your active lifestyle, and be comfortable to wear and easy to care for. Please let me know your questions.

Hey Joanna! Besides the apparent aesthetic benefits (i.e, it's versatility, colors, etc) of this bra, what sets this bra apart from others?

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 9:55 AM

@Emily There really isn't anything like the Evolution Bra currently on the market. We use state of the art bonded construction, which creates support around the bust in just the right places, without needing to use an underwire. The material itself is also very fast drying (under 4 hours hung or flat) and has antimicrobial properties which keep it fresher for longer. What women seem to love most about, and what sets it apart from a lot of others, is the comfort factor. The way it's constructed makes it feel like second skin and you barely notice it. It moves and evolves with you - from the office to the gym and to wherever your day takes you!

    @Joanna

hi, I have the problem of many surgeries and cannot handle the pressure from bra bands & sports bras are always way tight and painful. From illness lost mass so very small (no cup needed really) could this bra work? I've spent so much money on the "most comfortable " and haven't been able to find anything that can lay on scars.

@Stephanie @karen Sorry for my delayed response! It's been a bit crazy on the comment board today :)

This bra really isn't meant to compress you like a traditional sports bra. It's designed to feel like second skin, providing just the right support in just the right places - no uniboob or squishing. We have had numerous women who have had various surger-ies who love the bra for it's comfort and fit. I think it just might suit your needs! Hope that helps to answer your question.

thanks for your response. I really wish I or someone like me was on the trials. I'm mid 50's now and believe it or not with with all the health problems I live with you wouldn't think a Bram is a big deal! Oh but it is. ..to much to say here but should you want test runs with the padded or even this one I would sure help. I know I cannot be the only one so please include those of us who are *special *

Which feature of the bra are you most excited about?

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 10:00 AM

@Emily There are so many features that excite me about this bra, but I would have to say I'm most excited about the bonded construction and how it mimics the function of an underwire. I'm a D cup myself, and I have long searched for a versatile bra that provides the support I need without making me sacrificing comfort. I also love that I can wear it all day- from the office to an exercise class, without having to change my bra.

What sort of feedback did you get when you were going through the prototyping process? How did you integrate this into the final product?

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 10:31 AM

@Emily The biggest lesson we learned during prototyping was related to sizing. Each woman is sized so differently - whether it be in the cup and the band. We were determined to be as inclusive as possible, so we created our own hosiery-type chart that tried to fit as many possible band-cup ratios as possible. Luckily, the fabric is great at moulding to each unique shape. It's designed to fit snug at first (so don't be alarmed!) and it will stretch and mould to your body with a few wears.

@Joanna why is there no answer about how this bra lifts big boobs? Everyone is asking about that feature, you haven't explained

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 11:23 AM

@Elizabeth we have had really great feedback for our larger bra sizes (5,6,7,8) and that is something that I am really proud of. Our bra designer that we worked with is a 34 F and I can range from a D to a DDD depending on my weight. What I can tell you is that it is great for everyday wear and low impact activities. I have done yoga/pilates/hiking/spin etc in it. I would NOT use this bra for higher impact activities if you are larger than a C cup but otherwise it is great.

Hi Shelby, identify your band size (32, 36, etc) and then drag your finger across until you're underneath the cup size. That single digit number is your Knixwear size.

@Mike I am very disappointed to find that the sizes stop at DDD/E. I am a size H and did not find that size available. This seems to be the norm in bras, but I am ever hopeful. What are the chances that larger sizes may become available?

Does this design provide enough separation and shaping for larger and less dense busts? Most other non wire ends up w side spread & 'uniboob' result.

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 10:35 AM

@Maria "Uni-boob" was something we really wanted to tackle when designing our Evolution Bra. No woman wants that! The way the cup is designed, it provides a pocket for each breast, but the bonding on the side of the cup prevents too much spreading. The result is a really flattering, natural shape. We have had very positive feedback from our larger cupped customers - you can see an image of the bra on a DD on the next page. You will see that there is no uni-boob - it's incredible flattering.

    @Joanna

I am not quite sold yet. What is your return policy? My hesitation is due to the marketing images. With the exception of one quick still photo, all the models are young, fit, slender - the usual. Maybe that's your target market, though reading through some of the comments women of all shapes and sizes could be interested. I am neither as young, nor as fit as the ladies featured. I am 56, a 34DD, and while not overweight, I certainly have a different body type on top. I would love to SEE more women featured wearing your bra than the typical fashion model physique and also hear from them to better understand why this bra would appeal to all types as you have indicated it would. Thanks - am interested....just wanting more diversity in application.

@Jane Hi Jane, women of all ages and sizes are loving our Evolution Bra. In fact, our bigger sizes are some of our most popular, and hardest to keep in stock! On the next page, there is an image of a woman wearing our size 8, and you can see how it fits. We recently did a real woman campaign featuring our bra on women of all sizes and shapes - you can catch it here:

@Claudia @Wanda if you look at our size chart, we offer eight unique sizes that cover a range of cup and band sizes. It's like a hosiery chart: I'm a 34 around the ribcage and a B in the cup, so I'm a size 2. We are not a one size fits all product.

    Joanna,

I like the look of this bra. I am petite and am very self conscious of my D and sometimes DD bra size. Does this bra add or minimize a busty girl?

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 11:19 AM

@Deborah Hi Deborah. The bra isn't designed to enhance shape, as it isn't padded. I wouldn't say it minimizes, but rather works to mould to your cups to provide lift and support without giving you a restrictive feeling.

Love the look and would love to order this bra. I have a question? I am a 42 D and it looks like I would purchase an 8. My question is will this sit nicely against the chest or roll up?

Does it offer the normal support one needs too? Thanks for your help.

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 11:27 AM

@Barbara you are right, size 8 would be my suggestion. It is designed to sit flush against the skin and has some really great stretch throughout the garment. It also will mould to your body so it might be snug the first wear but it will give and mould to your shape. In terms of support you will be surprised. I have worn mine for pretty much every activity other than running.

Is the sizing for your 8-in-1 Evolution bra similar to the traditional sizing for bras; 34 B, 36 C?

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 11:23 AM

@Deborah Hi Deborah, if you look at the size chart, it's much like a hosiery chart. You pick your cup and your band size and it assigns you a number, and that's your size! For example, I'm a 34B and a size two.

  • Michelle
    Michelle

I want to order but under sizing it says 1 -8. Am I missing something about this bras sizing somewhere? Thank you. I'm excited to try this. I had a stroke about 3 years ago. Always looking for something comfy with no underwire. Last product tried didn't work for.

  • Joanna

    9/26/2016 11:32 AM

@Michelle Hi Michelle, the sizing chart is right here. If you scroll through the various images of the bra, the chart is in there. It will make things clearer! You simply pick your cup and your band size and you will see what number you are (like a hosiery chart).

    9/26/2016 11:33 AM

@Linda Hi Linda, you would be a size 3. If you look at our size chart on the product page - it's an image among the product images. You will see that a 38C is a size 3. Thank you!

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 11:35 AM

@Linda the bra is designed to mould to your body so if your weight fluctuates you will get more versatility out of the product compared to a normal bra. There are also 3 rows of hooks at the back for some added flexibility. My suggestion would be the size 5

@Joanna like Daniela I wear a HH cup, I measure 34 for my band size and 44 for the cups. I have large natural breasts but I am not a large person. I can't find bras that fit me well. Large cup bras are too high on the sides with underwire that is usually too long and digs into my armpits. I also find that the straps are too far off to the sides in front so they slip and are uncomfortable -even some bras with a U back. It has been very frustrating for me.

  • Joanna

    9/26/2016 11:32 AM

@Heather it definitely does. The designer we worked with is a 34F and I can range from a D-DDD depending on my weight. Our larger cup sizes have been a huge hit because they actually do provide support. You won't be able to run in it....but anything low impact or for everyday wear is great.

    @Leslie Hi Leslie,

if you are true A cup, you might prefer our padded version which we hope to launch with the Grommet soon. I'm a small B and I wear the unpadded and love it, but it depends on your preference. The unpadded version doesn't really enhance, but moulds to your natural shape.

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 11:36 AM

@Leslie it does work for smaller busted women and is really comfortable. It is going to mould to your shape so if you are looking for something that is going to do some enhancing then I would suggest waiting for when we launch the padded version on the grommet. I believe the return policy is consistent with the grommet so you can return it should you not be happy with the fit.

@Sally I love that you asked this question as we are launching a big campaign for breast cancer awareness month in October and have had many breast cancer survivors purchase and wear test the product. Couple of things that are good. 1) no wires, very comfortable and so nothing to dig in 2) because it moulds to your shape it also holds a prosthesis well

Fabric content is conspicuously absent. What is it made of and what makes it antimicrobial?

  • Joanna

@Gwen the fabric is comprised of 60% nylon, 40% spandex. We use nano-silver technology in the fabric to make it antimicrobial.

I am a post-mastectomy cancer survivor. I have had a pedicled trans-flap reconstruction, so my abdominal wall is tender and I have significant scarring. It's difficult to find a bra that fits comfortably with these issues and that also will 'hold' my prosthetic in place. Will this bra do the job? Thanks.

    9/26/2016 11:44 AM

@Donna Hi Donna, if you look at the product images, we have designed the bra with a high band to combat just that! No one likes bulge of any kind, so we have made our band width thicker along the sides and under the arms for a smooth look. You should be able to see in the images. Hope that helps!

I am currently wearing a 42B/C. Is there any chance one of your sizes might fit? I have such a hard time finding a bra. I CANNOT wear underwire because I have a high ribcage and they cut into me. Your type of bra is exactly what I have been looking for. I have even considered going to a custom bra shop to see if I could find something that would fit.

@Christine Hi Christine, the size I would recommend you try is a size 5. It accommodates for a bigger band and a medium cup. If that doesn't work, we will take note of your size as we expand our size chart in the future. Thanks!

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 11:57 AM

@Brenda we are working on adding more sizes but at the moment we don't have a good option for a 40A. Completely agree with your sentiments and we are working to fill the gaps in our sizing chart.

  • Joanna

    9/26/2016 12:00 PM

@Brenda hi Brenda, we don't currently have a size that accommodates for that cup-band ratio, unfortunately. That said we are taking note of all customers who submit their sizes that fall outside our size chart, as we will track demand and add more sizes in the future. Our size 2 will fit a 36A, but not a 40.

    Hi Joanna,

This bra looks great. As one who wears a 34-DD, this type of bra usually does better for small busted women, us fuller women usually get the uni-boob effect which I hate. Did you test your bra on full busted women?

Hi Joanna, I wear a 42DD bra (size 8) and I usually encounter 2 problems with other bras: 1) The straps don't stay up. Will they stay up on this bra when worn traditionally? and 2) the bra band on the bottom/side of the bra rolls up on me if there is no boning on the sides; which makes it painful to wear.

  • Joanna

@Heather J. Hi Heather, if fitted properly, you shouldn't experience any riding up! We have designed a thicker band with more coverage, so it stays in place and doesn't creep. If worn on the correct hook so it's snug (but not too tight!), it should stay put as you move.

    Hi Joanna,

I have the opposite issue of what many of the questions are inquiring, I am well endowed, 42F-H depending on the bra style. I looked at your size chart, I am out.

Are you planning to expand the sizes up in the future? If so I volunteer to be a tester for you. We who are well endowed have horrible issues finding the right bra for activities to just t-shirts.

So happy no latex, I too have an allergy to it.

In the testing, how long did the bras last before they started to feel stretched out, out of shape, loose support? Was a wash test done to find out how many washes before the questions in the previous sentence occurred?

    Thank you for the response.

Hi Joanna- I am also a bc survivor and I only find one bra comfortable to wear all day. It is like a sports bra but without clasp. my problem has been - finding a bra that has a broad enough band under the cups so the girls don't sneak out the bottom, and...a bra without a clasp. I find that the most comfortable bras still have an uncomfortable closure- either a sharp edge of the fabric corner, or the clasp itself rubs on my back. What is your return policy?

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 2:14 PM

@Rebecca Hi Rebecca, there is a back closure on this bra, and while it's soft and shouldn't irritate, but I don't want to promise given your particular sensitivity.

I can say that the bra is constructed with a fair amount of bonded fabric under the bust, specifically to prevent any spillage from the bottom and to mimic what an underwear does. We have had many breast cancer survivors try and love our bra, so that might persuade you. I'll share a link to the return policy shortly!

The one thing not addressed is the straps. I have NEVER had a bra in which the straps didn't slip off my shoulders. It drives me crazy! I've been fitted by professionals...still slipping. Elastic straps were not the answer, either. It's true that I'm a bit round shouldered, but not freakishly so. Do you have any solutions for this? Am I the only one with this problem? I await your answer...please.

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 2:20 PM

@Roberta Hi Roberta. We also hate when straps slip! The worst. We have designed the bra so that the straps connect from right above your cup over the middle of your shoulders and to your back, so they rest closer to your neck (hopefully that makes sense). It keeps the strap from slipping off your shoulder. Alternatively, you can also wear it cross back, which would prevent it from slipping entirely.

This would be perfect if it were front closure. All the women I've asked say they put their bra on with hooks in the front then turn it around. As you get older a lot of times reaching to the back is difficult and at times for me it gets painful. I think turning the bra round is time consuming and I've been scratched by hooks and strap hardware.

I was really disappointed that I couldn't even add the size I needed to a WISH LIST to remind me. And in reading the comments, I see others are disappointed that back orders are not accepted!!!!

And the biggest comment I would like to make - SHAME on you for having this item manufactured in China!

One of the reasons I buy from Grommet was I understood that it was an American company......

  • Mike

    9/26/2016 3:33 PM

Hi Donna, we understand your frustration. We wish we could make it easy to add a backorder feature here, but we are just not there yet.

As for manufacturing in China, a lot of the Makers we work with find it extremely difficult to make their products here. It's pricey and not a very accessible avenue for product development. But make no mistake, we are an American company and we have American-made products, however, that is only a percentage of the innovative products we have.

@Donna We work with certified factories in China and I make personal visits four times a year and have personally toured the facilities. I assure you, it's a state of the art facility. While we would love to make our products in Canada or the US, there simply isn't the infrastructure to do the bonding process we require for our underwear. I hope you can understand.

@Pat this is a mid impact bra, so it provides great support for everyday activity - walking, cycling, hiking, pilates etc. I wouldn't run a marathon in it...

The bonding creates a nice natural lifted shape that women of all cup sizes love. Take a look at the images for reference. Or you can check out our real women photoshoot here to see it on various sizes: http://www.stories-knixwear.com/

    Hi,

I've seen quite a few mixed reviews on this product, one being that it is not 100% reversible. This looks like something I'd be interested in purchasing if that is fixed. Are changes in the works for this issue?

  • Joanna

    9/26/2016 3:59 PM

@benjamin Hi Benjamin, I'm glad you asked this, as we have just released a 2.0 version of the product a few weeks ago, and that version is what we have sold to the Grommet. We have improved the reversibility in the clasp and finishes, so the beige side is 100% beige, and the black 100% black. The original product we shipped had some black finishes on the beige side, but we since solved this.

I bought your underwear and needed to exchange a large unworn, never even tried on, still in original packaging for a medium. (I bought a 2 pack and washed and wore one pair and it was too big.) Customer service was less than helpful and needless to say, I still have the unworn underwear in their original tube collecting dust somewhere in my house. My regular bra size is 38 DD-DDD. The bra sounds to goo to be true. I currently wear underwire and buy bras that provide lift (but not a push-up). By the time I tighten the straps for preferred lift the wires are in my arm pits and I still have "overflow" on the sides. Wearing sleeveless shirts is out of the question because my bra always shows. I'm 62, have breastfed 3 children, Gravity has taken a real toll. I basically lift and stuff my breasts into the cups. I REALLY want lift and SEPARATION! Comments and suggestions please.

Question for you - I see you have an online store and offer the Evolution bra in these and other colors. Has the construction or any of the bra features, sizing, fabric, etc. changed at all from what you currently offer on your website to what launched today and shipping out from Grommet?

@Targol We are also very excited about the launch! But sorry we don't have sizes to offer you. Good questions, by the way. I was just reading the specs on your bra. I noticed it's made in China. So did you design this?

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 9:29 PM

@Debbie We did all the designing at our offices in Canada. We came up with the concept and finalized the design here, but worked with a manufacturer in China who specializes in this type of bonding and construction. While we would have loved to make it in North America, there simply isn't the infrastructure to create a garment of this nature.

I wear a minimizer will this give same effect?

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 9:31 PM

@Wendy Hi Wendy, I'm not quite sure what a minimizer is, but I will say that this bra doesn't enhance cup size, as there is no liner or cup in it. It is two layers of fabric to create the support and coverage. It moulds to your natural shape, so while it doesn't minimize per say, there is a fair amount of tension in the fabric so it has a compression effect.

Hi Joanna, I'm very interested in your bra, but worry about my nipples showing through. I see you will be offering a padded version... will it be just lightly padded to help with this problem? Your bra looks so comfortable and I would like to give it a try. I'm a 40/42 B, which size do you recommend? Thank you!

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 9:33 PM

@Bette Hi Bette, the padded version will certainly prevent any nipple show through, if that is something you are concerned about. A 40B is a somewhat trickier size, and I would suggest the size 5. I'm afraid if you are a smaller B, the cup may be a bit big for you, but the band will work. I would suggest giving it a try.

I'm quite small in stature and petite (under 5') and have a small rib cage and narrow shoulders (I'm built like a soft boy, lol) which means the girls keep very close company since I'm also fairly good sized in the bust area... at least on one side, due to cancer (I wear a prosthetic to help even me out). My problem is I've always hated non-underwire bras as the girls not only slip out the bottom, but the bands tend to ride up as well. I also have problems with straps slipping off my shoulders; especially if I don't wear my prosthetic (around the house). Sports bras are highly uncomfortable... squishy flattened uniboob which causes massive sweating which = a nasty rash. The only bra that I've ever found to fit me well and feel great is an Wacoal underwire 34DD which I adore. So tell me why I should switch to a slightly molded sports bra? Are the girls going to be slightly flattened? Am I going to lose some support? And considering the girls live VERY close together, how far apart are the molded cups?

Hi Joanna. I've read pages of comments/questions, but haven't read anything regarding the breathability of the bra. I have a a problem with overheating very easily, just part of how my system has always been. I'm concerned that the nylon & spandex will cause me to overheat. Do you have any feedback from your test wearers regarding this issue? I'm also wondering if you considered a pullover version without hardware. Thank you, BJaye

@Stephanie @karen Sorry for my delayed response! It's been a bit crazy on the comment board today :)

This bra really isn't meant to compress you like a traditional sports bra. It's designed to feel like second skin, providing just the right support in just the right places - no uniboob or squishing. @Emily There are so many features that excite me about this bra, but I would have to say I'm most excited about the bonded construction and how it mimics the function of an underwire. I'm a D cup myself, and I have long searched for a versatile bra that provides the support I need without making me sacrificing comfort.

Does this design provide enough separation and shaping for larger and less dense busts? Most other non wire ends up w side spread & 'uniboob' result.

    @Joanna

  • Joanna

  • Michelle

@Michelle Hi Michelle, the sizing chart is right here. If you scroll through the various images of the bra, the chart is in there. It will make things clearer! You simply pick your cup and your band size and you will see what number you are (like a hosiery chart).

@Heather it definitely does. The designer we worked with is a 34F and I can range from a D-DDD depending on my weight. Our larger cup sizes have been a huge hit because they actually do provide support. You won't be able to run in it....but anything low impact or for everyday wear is great.

    @Leslie Hi Leslie,

if you are true A cup, you might prefer our padded version which we hope to launch with the Grommet soon.

I see by other's comments that I'm not alone by having a large ribcage. My ideal would be a 40-44 B. It's very hard to find a bra. Hope you expand in this direction. Will this bra keep it's shaping properties with bra extenders in the back?

The other is Victoria's Secret and is size 38D. They're both non-padded, underwire full cup. Based on these two compares to your size chart, it looks like I could go either size 5 or 7. What do you recommend? Also, are returns free?

  • Joanna

    Hi,

I've seen quite a few mixed reviews on this product, one being that it is not 100% reversible. This looks like something I'd be interested in purchasing if that is fixed. Are changes in the works for this issue?

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest

I'd be afraid to buy any more knitwear based on my experience.

    @Anita Hi Anita,

I'm sorry you were disappointed with our customer experience. Unfortunately, due to the hygienic nature of the product, we are unable to accept returned underwear. The bra is offered with a return and exchange policy, and the same will apply at the Grommet.

I've seen the question asked a couple of times but not answered, at lease I didn't see an answer. Is it returnable if it doesn't fit properly? Buying a bra online is always a little tricky but I'm very intrigued with this one and would like to try it. I just don't want to be stuck with an expensive bra that doesn't work for me.

It is, Patricia, as long as it is in close to original condition.

Will later versions include more nude shades (vanilla to caramel/cocoa)? I myself am practically transparent, so a standard nude beige is too dark and shows through pale shirts.

    @Jen Hi Jen,

Thanks for the feedback! IF we get enough customers asking, we will certainly aim to add in new shades in the future. I will take note of your feedback.

I am trying to order, but size 8. Is not listed. I had breast cancer, and can not wear underwire. My only option was lane Bryant wireless. That bra leaves the indent in my shoulders. I'm really excited to see if this bra would work for me. Let me know when the size 8 will be available on the order form

Help! I just spent an hour measuring and deciding what size I need but now I'm unable to order a Size 5. I realize they must be out of stock but there doesn't seem to be a way to put this on "back-order". What am I missing?

I already have this bra, from the initial crowd funding. I'm a 36D, and it is comfortable AND supportive. When I first jumped on the bandwagon I was a 40DD. I was able to wear the bra around the house, but didn't feel comfortable wearing it out. Having lost 40 pounds, i can now confidently wear it everywhere. As my weight loss continues, I'll be ordering this bra again.

@Cindy Hi Cindy, we have had many many happy customers who wear your size (you are a 7). The bonding truly does mimic what an underwear does, but without the discomfort of a wire. This bra also does separate (no uni-boob!). Here are some images of various shaped women wearing the bra:http://www.stories-knixwear.com/

While I'm unhappy you're out of stock of either of my potential sizes, congratulations to Knixwear for selling out! im a huge fan of Grommet, entrepreneurs and small businesses and will support when I can!

The graphic lace and graphic print have some of the old reversibility features, but it was the black/nude that we changed the most. As far as fit, construction etc, they are identical. I hope that helps!

Joanna I had implants many years ago. They have ruptured. They are therefore uneven. Will this bra mound to each breast?

  • Joanna
    Joanna – Special Guest
    9/26/2016 9:28 PM

@Carla If the discrepancy is only slight, the bra should be totally fine. I would suggest a smaller cup that will fit snugly against the smaller cup and stretch around the bigger cup. Hope that helps.

Thank you!

  • Joanna
