Best option for unshrinking sweaters!

9/20/2014 by Tracy

I just unshrank 3 cashmere sweaters with this product (1 fine, 1 mdm, and 1 heavy gauge, using 1 bottle of product). This worked far better than the "Yankee" method of unshrinking (which involves soaking the sweater in lots and lots of hair conditioner, then stretching it). I would definitely recommend measuring some key points on the garment before starting, so that you have some sense for how much length vs. width you're trying to get back.

I will definitely recommend this; hopefully I will never need it again, though!

Not highly effective for alpaca garments

2/4/2017 by Bob

I have some socks that are 70% alpaca fiber that were washed and inappropriately dried and as a result had shrunk somewhat and the fabric had stiffened. I treated these socks twice with unShrinkIt carefully following the instructions but only see a small improvement in the garments. I tried stretching them onto my feet while still wet and also stretching by pulling with my hands but only see a relatively small increase in size and a small improvement in fabric flexibility. I would not recommend this product for treating alpaca garments that have been inappropriately washed and dried. But the product isn't advertised for this use so I would not count this as an indication it is not suitable for other types of animal or plant fiber.More > < Less

Works as promised

One cashmere sweater was restored but one very, very old vintage sweater (possibly partially felted) couldn't be stretched. One thing I found objectionable was the odor. It faded somewhat put it was off-putting. I would use it again and recommend it.More > < Less

Worked ABit But Not Enough

1/30/2017 by Linda

Used it per directions. It did relax the fibers but not enough to ever make the sweater wearable. Wasn't a success for me but it was worth a try.More > < Less

Worked...somewhat

11/20/2016 by Jill

I wasn't expecting any miracles with this, and I didn't get any. Yes, it did manage to stretch the fabric quite a bit. But, the odor, not perfumy but like sulfer was so overwhelming I decided to ditch it. Maybe a combination of the wool with their scent? Plus the fact that it was not soft like it was before. But if all you are hoping for is to unshrink, it will do the job.More > < Less

Unshrinkit - Shrunken Sweater Solution

About Unshrinkit

Reversal of misfortune

After inadvertently putting her brand new cashmere sweater in the wash and dryer, Unshrinkit co-founder, Desiree Stolar, did what any resourceful, modern day woman would do—she turned to the Internet for guidance. While she came across plenty of home remedies, nothing worked. That’s when she teamed up with some fellow Harvard Business School graduate students to invent Unshrinkit.

With the help of a chemical engineer, Desiree and company co-founders Nate Barbera and Matt Kahn developed a liquid solution specially devised to interact with shrunken, bunched up wool, cashmere, and angora to elongate, straighten, and restore the fibers back to their original "unshrunk" condition. There was such a great response, that they kept innovating and recently introduced a better-than-ever formula.

Now, when your favorite sweater takes an accidental tumble in the dryer and ends up smaller than you’ll ever be, there’s no need to dismay. Simply dunk that sweater in a bottle of Unshrinkit mixed with water for 30 minutes, rinse, stretch, and lay flat to dry.
