So much fun!

I'm a big fan of cheese in general and the thought of making my own sounded daunting. The kit gives you the basics and really straightforward instructions.
I'm really having a lot of fun experimenting with different flavors. The plain ol' cheese is pretty tasty too!

This was a Christmas gift for my brother. It arrived quickly and was packaged well. Looked just like the pictures, with clear instructions. My brother was excited to receive it. I haven't heard if he has tried making cheese yet.More > < Less

Very fun and easy to make

My 13 year old daughter loves to cook, I thought we would try something new over the summer for fun. Love the idea of making the cheese! Our cheese looked just like the one in the picture and tasted good too. We did the easier one of Queso Blanco. I did have to go to Whole Foods to get non homogenized milk, but it was fun. I learned a lot about Curds and Whey, I am still wondering why Little Miss Muffet eats them though, now that I know what it is?.....Great set, really enjoyed it, my daughter loved it. My only issue is now is that I see how and where cheese comes from, It is kinda gross when you see the curds form. Fun housewarming gift instead of wine!More > < Less

The cheese kit arrived quickly, nice packaging. I glanced at the instructions and they appear easy to follow. Assuming the cheese forms as it should, I think this would be an interesting gift for a foody and/or cheese lover.More > < Less

I gave the cheese kit to my daughter to do with her kids. She hasn't had time to use it yet. She was really excited to try it out, though.

Urban Cheesecraft - DIY Cheese Kits

About Urban Cheesecraft

Cheese Making 101

When Claudia Lucero set out to try her hand at cheesemaking, she was surprised at how difficult it was to find supplies and overwhelmed by some of the special equipment that some recipes required. After all, cheesemaking has been going on for centuries. Should it really be this complicated to try in a modern home? None of us has calibrated presses, humidity gauges, and acidity testers in our home kitchens.

After lots of research and perseverance, Claudia refined her own techniques for making fresh cheeses that don’t require aging and can be made at home with little or no special equipment. Now she’s sharing her experience with fellow aspiring cheesemakers.

With an Urban Cheesecraft DIY Cheese Kit, all you need is a gallon of pasteurized milk (not ultra-pasteurized). The kits include the rest of the supplies such as cheesecloth, a dairy thermometer, vegetarian rennet, citric acid, and cheese salt. (Supplies vary depending on the kit you choose.) Just follow the instructions, and in about an hour, you’ll have fresh mozzarella, ricotta, queso blanco, paneer, or goat cheese. Once you get the hang of it, you can have fun experimenting with different spices, shapes, and recipes. Your taste buds will love the effort.
