Waboba Balls

Water Skimming Balls

Just Add Water

Imagine an extreme version of skipping rocks, and you’ve got the general idea behind Waboba. The creator is Jan von Heland, who back in the 1980s envisioned a ball that could skip across the surface of water. Twenty years later, he engineered a sphere with a polymer gel center, which is what gives Waboba balls their extra bounciness, and he’s been winning over Wabobians ever since.

All you need is a little water to experience total fun. You can play catch with Waboba balls, or just enjoy skimming them across the surface of a puddle, pool or ocean. We’ve never seen anything like it. Waboba balls bounce high, rebound fast, and skip incredibly far.

Jan’s original ball, the Waboba Extreme, works great on open water, such as oceans, lakes, rivers, and even puddles.

Be prepared for hours of fun.

Hey, Daily Grommet fans! When I was a kid I spent my summers playing outside all day. Who am I kidding? These days, I still do with Waboba balls, the balls that bounce on water! I'm excited that Daily Grommet has chosen to share Waboba balls with you today, especially with the summer season in full swing. I hope you too, will stay cool with Waboba and see what the splash is all about. I look forward to answering any questions you may have.

I can see my dog loving these! Are they pet safe?

@ Mrs Turkleton - Waboba balls are intended for humans only, but we understand owners want to play Waboba with their dogs, too! There won't be any harm to the dogs, but we wouldn't recommend leaving them unattended as they could tear the ball. In reality, well trained dogs who know how to fetch would be best. And just to let everyone know, we have a Waboba Dogball we hope to bring to the States in 2013, if you want to wait until then for a ball made just for our four legged friends.

@ELAINE - See my response above to Mrs. Turkleton about Waboba and pets. Waboba is made for water only, so don't bounce them on hard surfaces. It could cause the stitching to come undone. The Lycra material is best for the water, since it's what the swimmers wear, too. :)

@Jordan Sullivan What is the difference between the blast ball and the extreme ball?

@ Carole: I've pulled this info that's in the DETAILS Tab (under video) on the page where Waboba Ball is featured:

    Waboba Blast:

    - Made specifically for pool play.

    - Engineered to be comfortable and not bounce as high as the Extreme or the Pro.

    - Lightweight -- perfect for kids and the whole family.

    - Slower and easier to catch -- great for beginners.

    - Best for ages 5 and up.

    Waboba Extreme:

    - The first ball to bounce on water and the most versatile.

    - Its ability to bounce high and fast makes it a fun and challenging water sport enjoyable for everyone.

    - Best for ages 8 and up.

Would they work in the ocean?

@ JPT Oh yes!!! The ocean is the best. You can bounce the Waboba ball off the wave to go 15 feet in the air! They are great for lakes, oceans, bays, rivers, ponds, etc! Where there's water there is Waboba!
