TAB Seatback Pocket Organizer

Organized Travel

Keeping our stuff on-hand and organized during a flight is a struggle we’d be happy to do without. Luckily for us, Walter + Ray has designed TAB, the ultimate travel organizer.

As a frequent traveler, Founder Tania Rodrigues knew the frustration of leaving items behind on an airplane. Rodrigues created TAB to contain travel essentials in a smartly designed bag that also keeps them handy.

TAB’s slim, streamlined style slides
easily over the seat back pocket, and the magnetic SmartFlap keeps it secure. Or latch it on with the tray table straps.

With six defined spaces and two removable insert bags, everything has a spot inside the bag, and it’s all easy to see and access. An added bonus: your stuff stays off the surfaces that tons of other travelers have touched.

Durable, functional materials and sharp styling make TAB perfect for when you’re not in the air, too. Take it on a train or road trip, or use it as your everyday bag.

Hello everyone! I am so excited to introduce TAB to The Grommet. I’d be happy to answer any questions you have!

Hi -- I don't have a question, but rather a suggestion. Could you please follow this up with a "TAB Jr." or "micro-TAB?" Ideally for us, something like TAB but about 1/3-1/2 the size would work better. Just big enough to stash earbuds, a smartphone, maybe a small paperback -- on the plane, not for walk-around use.

@Eric Hi Eric! Great suggestion. I will absolutely start on a protoype for that ASAP. Great idea!

@Tania I agree with Eric. A smaller version that would fit inside purse or carry-on would be perfect.

Yes! I totally agree with Eric! I'd love one of these in a much smaller version. Just big enough to hold my eyeglasses, my iPhone and my Kindle...something I could slip inside my carry-on until I'm on board.

    @Catherine Hi Catherine!

With it's narrow profile, TAB can slip right into a tote, backpack or standard carry-on luggage with ease. No need to use the shoulder strap. Just added it as an optional carry method.

Just pull out when you get on=board and have a clean place for all your gear!

The two removable insert bags can hold eyeglasses, iPhone, cords, etc. PLUS you can use on their own on shorter flights.

What are the differences between the messenger bag and the zipsleeve?

  • Tania
    Tania – Special Guest
    11/13/2015 10:27 AM

    @Jessica Hi Jessica!

TAB Messenger is made of a polyblend, suit inspired material, has a 1/2 wider bottom gusset than the ZipSleeve and has a messenger style, exterior flap. Simple, sporty and urban.

TAB ZipSleeve is made of pebbled calfskin, has a zipper that zips around 3 sides of the bag and is slightly thinner in width to the Messenger. Sophisticated, handsome and minimalist.

How about inventing a collapsible "cup holder"?! I bring a Gatorade or Powerade bottle on the plane and the seatback pocket is usually too snug to fit the bottle well. I can jam it in there, but then it's not easily accessible. Hanging it over the side of the pocket would be terrific! Anyway, just a thought.

to add to the prototype conversation a smaller version would also be great for book bags. My kids are always fishing around for earphone, flash drives, charging cords, and travel chargers. It would be nice to have all that stuff together in one place and for it to be easily portable and moveable to other bags.

Is the only difference between the messenger bag and the zipsleeve a zipper. If not, what are the differences between the two. thank you

  • Tania
    Tania – Special Guest
    11/13/2015 11:49 AM

Hi Steven! The ZipSleeve is slightly thinner at the bottom gusset, measuring at 1" as opposed to the Messenger at 1.5". Also, the Messenger is a polyester and the ZipSleeve is pebbled calfskin. Other differences are:

The Messenger has a luggage sleeve on the bag to put over your rolling luggage and the ZipSleeve does not.

The two Messenger insert bags are different than the ZipSleeve insert bags. One Messenger insert bag has two open pockets that work well for your passport, glasses or phone and the second insert bag is a zippered pouch for cords, adaptors and other small unruly items.

The two ZipSleeve insert bags are both zippered bags.

    Hope that helps!

Hi Connie! The ZipSleeve is made of pebbled calfskin. The hides are more expensive than the poly fabric of the Messenger. The Messenger is a great day fabric and the ZipSleeve is a luxe material. I use them both!

Hi Millicent! The TAB ZipSleeve is in the video in the Inchworm Green pebbled calfskin. The ZipSleeve zips closed like a tablet case but with expandable gussets to fit the shape of the airline seatback pocket. The Messenger has a foldover messenger bag style outer flsap that closes with magnets.

    Hope this helps!

Hi Heather! The exterior outer pocket of Messenger can hold both your boarding pass and your passport. As for the ZipSleeve, I am working on a new solution for that. I did not want to put a pocket on the outside because I wanted to keep the profile minimal, so keep your eyes peeled!

    Hi Tania!

Please tell me how wide the TAB Messenger Bag and the TAB ZipSleeve expand? The dimensions under details state they are 2 inches and 1 inch wide respectively and I assume that is when they are empty, but do not state how far they expand while full and zipped shut. Thank you!

  • Tania
    Tania – Special Guest
    11/13/2015 5:44 PM

Hi Helen! The Zipsleeve is .75 thick zipped closed and the Messenger is 2" folded closed.

Unzipped, the ZipSleeve gusset is 4" wide at the top. With flap open, the Messenger gusset is also 4" wide at the top. You can fit more in the Messenger than the ZipSleeve.

    Hope that helps!

@Tania I am traveling to Italy on the middle of next week. 1) Can I get expedited shipping. Also do I want the sleeve or the messenger bag? Or does the sleeve so in the messenger bag? I'm a bit confused. I live in Boston. Thanks, Laurey

    Tania,,

I am traveling to Italy November 18th. (in a few days) Anyway a shipment could be expedited to me? I live in Lexington, MA. I tend to carry too much on the plane. Should I get the bag or the sleeve? I thought the sleeve went into the bag...no? Can't wait to hear...this is just what I've been looking for! Great job.

    Mike – Grommet Team
    11/16/2015 10:45 AM

Hi Laurey, if you select two-day shipping, you should get it in time. The main difference between the two is the style and material. The ZipSleeve, as you'll see in the pictures, is zippered on top instead of folded over like the messenger bag. It is also made of calfskin. Both will meet your needs perfectly!

The launch day conversation has ended. Please direct further questions about this Grommet to our Community Experience Team.
