Wipebook

Reusable Whiteboard Notebook

Infinite Pages

What happens when you cross a dry erase board with a notebook?

You get an endlessly reusable notebook—one you can fill over and over with sketches, diagrams, notes, lists, or your day’s to-do’s.

The forgiving, hypergloss film pages encourage unlimited drafts, but limit smudging. Each Wipebook comes with a smudge-proof pen so your thoughts and projects stay intact—until you decide to re-use a page.

The engineers behind this
Grommet are Toby Maurice and Frank Bouchard—they wanted to jot down and showcase ideas without the waste. So they created something you can use over and over again.

We really liked that, at first glance, Wipebook looks like your classic vegan leather bound journal, but inside it’s an innovative, environmentally friendly way to take notes, doodle and more.

Shut up and take my money! For all of us in sales and on the road who need to diagram often as we explain, this is perfect. Environmentally conscious. Well done.

How well does the smudge proof marker work with left handers?

  • Toby
    Toby – Special Guest
    1/31/2017 10:27 AM

@Teresa we get that a lot actually. Our film is designed to work synergistically with the staedtler correctable. So after about 5-10 seconds. Very little to no smudging at all for right or left handed people

How does the erasing work if the "ink" is smudge proof? And typically with dry erase boards after a while, without a special solution, you see faded writing left after erasing with so many uses. Is there a "use limit" to the notebook?

  • Toby
    Toby – Special Guest
    1/31/2017 11:25 AM

@Eric we have had some engineering students use their wipebook for up to 4 years. The patented hypergloss film holds up well. I use mine everyday. Once the pages are full; wipe the whole book clean with a slightly damp micro cloth for example.

Can any dry erase pen be used or can these be purchased at a store? I'm thinking these would also be great for budding artists (kids), who might loose the pens.

  • Toby

    1/31/2017 11:28 AM

@Sara we recommend the expo brand ultra fines and more specifically the staedtler correctables if you want to be "smudge proof". If you use anything other than the correctables, like the expos, the pages are like your typical whiteboard.

Is there something special about the smudgeproof pen, i.e. can I get a replacement dry erase standard marker anywhere that will work just as well?

  • Toby
    Toby – Special Guest
    1/31/2017 11:32 AM

@Chuck how goes it? we recommend the expo brand ultra fines which you can pretty much get anywhere, like walmart for example, and more specifically the staedtler correctables if you want to be "smudge proof". If you use anything other than the correctables, like the expos, the pages are like your typical whiteboard.

@Lyla Just another shopper here but check out an app called Camscanner. Its free and lets you take pictures of things and saves them as pdf's and a few other type of files. I use camscanner to take pictures of my whiteboard on my wall when i want to save it but need to move onto something else.

Question: Are there other pens (i.e., ones with different sized tips, different colors, etc. that can be used with the Wipebook?

  • Toby
    Toby – Special Guest
    1/31/2017 11:30 AM

@Anita we recommend the correctables, 305s by staedtler for the smudge proof option and expo brand ultra fines work really nicely as well if you don't want to keep your notes for a long period of time.

  • Elizabeth

In the future, maybe there could be a film leaf/page to cover up work on a particular page or two.

  • Toby

@Karen I know that staples carries the "correctable" markers, the 305s, at times. And the expo brand ultra fines you can get pretty much anywhere like wal-mart for example.

@Toby I would recommend a Navy Blue and a RED. I can see me getting these for my grandkids!!! They could use them for playing Tic Tac Toe, drawing and notes. A classy take-along when they are traveling or have down time and are away from home. (They have Kindles, but I encourage old fashion tools! They currently use old fashioned mini legal pads and love them!)

  • Toby

@Becky they can last a really long time if you recap continually after use. I've used the same one for a few months, everyday at least for drawing and sketching.

What is the page size. Sounds like a great idea.

  • Toby
    Toby – Special Guest
    1/31/2017 12:27 PM

@Heidi the pro is a standard 8.5 x 11 and the mini version is 5.8 x 8.25, a little smaller for your purse and stuff, or for working things out in a limited space like a coffee shop for example.

Good afternoon, your product looks great. What are the 'paper' sizes? I am assuming a standard 8 1/2 x 11 on the big....What about the mini?

  • Toby
    Toby – Special Guest
    1/31/2017 12:28 PM

    @lita correct the larger one is 8.5 x 11 and the smaller one 5.8 x 8.25

These look great for kids! Instead of handing them an iPad, they can create while they are out to dinner, waiting at the dr's office, sitting in the grocery cart, etc. Would you consider a different cover and colors for kids? Maybe 5x8 size?

Does it just wipe clean with a tissue? My father is deaf and we communicate with a big white board which is inconvenient...just order the small size for my purse! I would have liked about any cover color other than brown but excited none-the-less.

  • Toby
    Toby – Special Guest
    1/31/2017 1:37 PM

@Kathy you can use a dry or slightly damp tissue if the notes have been there for a longer period. Personally I use a micro-cloth, slightly damp, and I can wipe the whole book in about about 1 min or so.

Have you ever thought of adding lines to the pages of your Wipebooks? Products could be used for the re-learning of cursive handwriting? How about selling the Wipebooks as a set (Sell more, you AND customer both get a great deal!!! )You could also sell a "line" of different "pens" for different purposes (blogs, calligraphy, cursive, notes, etc.)

  • Toby

@Leonard A. the pro version is ruled. Lightly ruled for example. Maybe hard to pick-up from the video though

I read your answer about lefthanders, but even 5 sec is like an eternity when writing. You would have to stop and wait as you are writing to avoid smudges and/or residue on hand?

  • Toby

@richard honestly to date we have yet to have a return from a lefty for that reason.
