Handbag Handcuff

Purse Hanger

Cuff your stuff

Women choose their handbags carefully, often spending a small fortune on them. Yet, in the car or in a restaurant, the only place for the bags we love is on a dirty floor. Now you can give your pocketbook a little pick me up with the Handbag Handcuff, the perfect complement to your favorite purse.

Tired of watching her handbag
tumble off the front seat and spill every time she hit the brakes, busy mom Beth Corets decided to do something about it. The idea for the Handbag Handcuff came to her while driving, so it's only natural that she sketched the design right then and there in her car.

This smart, stylish accessory works just as great as it looks. In the car, simply cuff one carabiner to the passenger headrest post and the other to the strap of your bag to keep it in place. In a restaurant, hook it to the back of your chair. The Handbag Handcuff can also help protect your personal items from loss, or worse, sticky fingers, when clipped to your grocery cart, baby stroller, or to your luggage while traveling. Designed to hold up and do no harm, the Handbag Handcuff pouch is composed of vegan-friendly materials and the hardware is of made of zinc alloy, free of cadmium and lead.

You carry your life in your handbag, you may as well keep it safe and secure.

No questions here, I am just awestruck that someone invented this. My gosh, how ingenious. I can already think of a million ways to use it. Thank you ever so much for designing this!.

@Kay we are so glad it resonates with you. We are not responsible for Bag Dump, but hopefully we are part of the solution! We would love to hear some of the ways that you would use it.

@Beth Along with your ideas, I would also use it to attach my purse on the floor to the seat on the airplane, usually my purse goes skidding around in rough air, also it would make me feel more comfortable if I fell asleep on the plane knowing at least that it was chained. Yes, it does seem a little high priced, but I believe it is worth it. The grocery cart is where I would probably use it the most, after the car seat. In a public setting, whose purse do you think a thief would go for first? One just sitting there in a car, grocery cart, back of chair, etc., or one that they would have to unlatch from something? Once you lose something to theft this price is nothing for peace of mind.

I would like to know what the inside looks like. its says it holds keys and receipts but I don't see how they would not fall out. Plus, I'd like to see the lining.

What is this like, how does it work?"Auxiliary strap for added functionality - can be used to hold additional items or as a hanger; made of durable nylon webbing"

@Kay, great idea about the plane! It's so true. Part of why I came up with this was I wanted peace of mind. It's interesting to hear about how others use their HH. I take mine in and out of the car and use it at the grocery store. I have also used it at concerts and ball games. But, there are others who love keeping it in the car.

@Linda, great question... I designed the HH with an auxiliary strap so that you could also use it connect multiple bags, bulky frames, and thick-handled bags. Each cuff has a clearance of 16mm (just over 5/8") which should fit around most straps, headrest posts and shopping-cart frames. However, if you should encounter a thick-handled bag or bulky frame, we don't advise forcing the cuff to open beyond its tolerance. The auxiliary strap is designed for this very purpose. You would open the pouch, unfold the auxiliary strap, rotate it on its rivet toward the cuff and thread the strap's D-ring through the cuff.

    Hi again,

here is another image of how the auxiliary strap works.

It's a terrific idea and would be very handy, but the price is way too high, especially for something that isn't leather. I'd love it for half the price, then it would also be a great gift/stocking stuffer.

@Lisa This week I saw a story on the news regarding thefts from cars of women's purse's while they were filling up their cars with gas or step away from car to go into the station. The videos showed the thieves targeting vans, trucks, SUVs, They would pull their car up as if to gas up on pumps away from view of target-crouch down-open the victim's car door and snatch purse from front seat-and drive off!!! This would be a great item to foil that-BUT they also recommended locking your doors while pumping gas-

@Jane We saw the Sliders story, too, and you are exactly right. HH is a theft deterrent for not only the gas station scenario, but also smash and grab thefts. It is a great comfort to know that if you drive with your top down or window open, your bag will stay next to you on the seat.

@Lisa thank you for your feedback. We opted for faux leather because it is actually more durable and won't fade in the sun if you leave your HH attached to your headrest post in the car. It is also wipes clean easily. Our cuffs have weight and strength that may not translate in photos and it feels very substantial. We are also mindful of the price and wanted to make sure that quality was paramount.

@Beth Jane, I agree with you about the price. This is a great idea, one that is long overdue, but at $39 + shipping, it's out of my price range. Lisa, I don't begrudge you a profit, I recognize the value of what you've developed, and I wish I had the money for one for me and every woman relative and friend I know ... but $45 buys a things that are higher on the priority list than this, especially when I have work-arounds for the theft problem that I'm already using and that don't cost an extra cent. Hope you find people with the free cash to buy your product at your price.

I agree with everything stated by Kate. The cost is a bit high but I'm still interested, not only for myself but for my friends. Discounts for purchasing several might be a good incentive.

Sorry ladies but this is NOT a new invention. I have an even better purse holder called the Clipa that I've had for over 2 years now. They are made entirely of steel so much more durable & come in a variety of metals & some even come adorned with crystals!! Can even be worn as a stylish bracelet. No, I am not affiliated. I just wanted the ladies to know that there are other, cheaper, more stylish, more durable alternatives. The plain one is only $20 & I've purchased several for my friends & they all love it!.

@Marie - Handbag security and general control is real problem. At The Grommet we know of a few different handbag solutions. In fact, you'll find a wonderful product called Luxe Link in our catalog too -it's similar to the product you mention. The Handbag Handcuff has some extra functionality, we thought was worth sharing. Thanks for your comment.

@Marie, there are many great products out there and we support all inventors, especially those who find ways to solve everyday problems. We are proud to have earned both design and utility patents. Handbag Handcuff offers luxury feel and broader functionality than anything else we have have found in the market. We do agree with @Joanne that Luxe Link is a terrific table top bag hanger.

Hello, I'm not so worried about the price point; after all I spend quite a pretty penny for my beautiful handbags. This is a great idea that I didn't know was out there ~ I drive a convertible and I have to put my purse in my trunk to feel safe, yuck! It does not make me happy to put my gorgeous handbags in the trunk! Anyway, what I'm wondering is if you'll be coming out with more colors? I'd love some blues :-)

@Anne, thank you so much for your comment. You are right, not only do we spend money for our bags, but the contents, as well. It used to make me nuts to watch my compact of pressed powder become a projectile and have to then toss it after it broke apart on the floor mat. My cell phone, i-Pad and other devices, are costly, too. Not only is there value in preserving the contents, but in saving your sanity, as well. Yes, we will be coming out with other colors in time. We are starting to sample them now and blue is definitely in the works.
