    Aloha,

    My name is Alecia and I created RipSkirt because I couldn’t find the swimwear cover-up that I was looking for. I have three kids and being in the water has always been part of our lives. To be honest, like a lot of women, I like to cover my bum and thighs when walking around in my swimsuit.

    I really appreciate your interest and support. Thanks for choosing RipSkirt and The Grommet!

    Im looking at the length of the skirt and I'm wondering if measurement is from the bottom and the hem line to the top of the waistband? Also where does it fall on your waist?

    @Evan Yes. The measurement is from top of waist to bottom of the hem. Most people like to wear it sitting a few inches above the hipbones. Mahalo

    @Alecia - I love that this skirt doesn't require buttons or zippers! The Velcro should make it easy to adjust whether you want to wear it lower or higher on the hips. Thanks!

    @Becky It sure is you can see my daughter and I riding in our video! You can also roll it up and it packs down small. Perfect if you want to put in on to stop in a store or restaurant during a ride and just throw it on then. Thanks and I'm back to shipping !

    I sometimes have to go to the grocery store after working out at the gym. Been looking for a solution to putting over my athletic crop pants & yoga pants. This looks great & I can't wait to see how it works out for me. I ordered 2 of these & will let you know!

    Two things....

    I love this idea, but would like the skirt to cover a little more "real estate" so to speak, hitting just above the knee. As I get older, my legs continue to show more sagging and/or cellulite even on the front! Any plans for a longer length???

    And if I order and it is just too short for me, can I return it?

    Aloha- It is fun to see the great response so far! I have had several questions on sizing. If you are in doubt and think you are between sizes I would say the skirts run larger rather than smaller and order a size down. Mahalo for your support! Alecia

    I think this RipSkirt is something many of us have been looking for to wear around the pool and beach. I'm what they call a plus size women and very disappointed that you do not carry these in plus sizes. Hoping in the future.

    @Marjie Yes They are. I spent 4 months chasing my tail trying to make them here. I had a history in production overseas and I guess I just know the system better. I couldn't get anyone to take me seriously, even with a 20 yr history starting and running a previous business. Thanks for asking. Alecia

    @Alecia Yes it is velcro. I have several board shorts and skirts with zippers and snaps that stick or rust because of the salt air. I think a good seamstress could certainly make one for themselves. In making my prototypes had a tough time finding the fabric I wanted and the detail and pocket were difficult but I'm not a seamstress. I actually ended up developing a custom fabric because I really wanted something lightweight that didn't cling but still felt like a quality fabric. Mahalo

    @Christine

    Hi there! I actually just received mine in today's mail ~ shipping was really speedy! (I made the purchase just in time for my trip to Hawaii next week). LOVE the stretchy, lightweight fabric, and also, the really great A-line shape! I am 55 years old and wouldn't mind seeing it in a longer option, but it is not as short as many swimsuit cover-ups out there, so I am happy with the length for pool/beach use. I ordered the size medium and as Alecia says, it does tend to run a teeny bit large, though a size small would have been too small for me.

    One note that that I do not consider a complaint, but just a reality when working with velcro: Depending on where you need to adjust the velcro strip for the correct, smooth fit, there is a possibility that a portion of the "hook side" will be face-down on your swimsuit (which is the case for me). This will obviously lead to some snagging. But I love the skirt so much that I decided I'll purchase a small bit of a similar width fabric velcro, cut a small piece of the "fuzzy side" and attach it to the exposed hook side on the skirt. This will eliminate the snag issue for me and give the perfect fit. It is an easy fix and worth it to me so I can keep the skirt!!

    And for Linda: yes, it's velcro, but the quality of the skirt and the flattering fit/shape over my swimsuit makes it worth every penny, as far as I'm concerned! WELL DONE, ALECIA! Best of success! (And if you eventually do create a longer length, let me know and I'll purchase another.)

    @Christi Aloha Christi, Thanks for the kind comments. I'm actually in the process of making samples so the velcro is switched around so the hook faces out. It might be a problem catching on clothes going this direction but a friend suggested this and I thought I'd demo it. Your input is much appreciated!
