Vinrella

Umbrella in a Bottle

Dry Wine

A wet folded umbrella is most inconvenient to carry. But not with Vinrella, an umbrella with an elegant case that keeps wayward water off belongings and clothes. When tucked safely away, Vinrella cleverly resembles a wine bottle. It comes in four colors and patterns, including a solid glass green.

Mother-daughter team Sheri and
Nicole Hammonds collaborated to reinvent a bad weather staple into a must-have accessory. They succeeded with an umbrella upgrade that is part practical, part stylish and guaranteed to make you smile.

To make sure Vinrella stays fresh, just dry out both umbrella and case when you can. It makes a sensible yet unexpected gift for almost anybody, because into everyone’s life some rain must fall. And whether Vinrella is open or closed, that rain stays safely away.

Thanks for the compliments. These are made in China.

@Amy I'm sorry to hear that, I'd love to have them and share them but I've got a personal rule against buying from China.

@S great idea, but made in China, is a turn off. Sorry I won't buy it either.

@Gloria must make it hard for you to buy things if you exclude things made in China.

@Amy I prefer to support American Made products. Having something - no matter how cool - made in China is a huge turn off. Everyone complains about the lack of American quality jobs but unless you put your money where you mouth is, you are stil part of the problem. And if you are thinking, yes, I do give preference to Made in America items. I have found "the perfect" gift only to discover that it was made some place other than the USA and left it on the shelf. And on the flip side, I have found items Made in America, purchased them before deciding who the gift is for. So yes, I tend to exclude items NOT made in America.

Do you have to pour out the water in the bottle that came of the umbrella

  • Sheri

@Yesenia At the end of the day you will need to air dry the umbrella and pour out any water that has gathered in the bottle. Often the water evaporates once you take out your umbrella. There won't be a lot of water in the bottle, the umbrella soaks up most of the moisture.

    Hi,

how are these different than the ones already on the market? I've been reluctant to buy one (not Vinrella) due to poor reviews, let me know and thanks!

    @Rob

    Hi Rob,

At first I was a bit skeptical of this working too, but I have found that the real key to making it work is all in how you fold the umbrella back up. As Sheri demonstrates in the video you have to fold it tightly so that it can fit back into the vessel. Once you master this I think you will find that it works great.

    Hi Rob,

Our product is not like any other you may have seen in the market. Our umbrellas are larger with a strong frame and nice fabric. We have a carrying loop that fits nicely on a man or woman's wrist, and our bottles are made of strong ABS plastic.

People really love our designs too!

    Hope that helps.

As with Yensnia, I'm interested in the water. Is there a mold/mildew issue if the umbrella is not dried?

What are the recommendations for how to care for the umbrella after it has been used and you're in a position to deal with the water?

  • Meredith

    @Robert @Yesenia

    Hi Robert and Yesenia,

We recommend giving the umbrella a good shake before putting it into the bottle to get most of the water off. You could also wipe the umbrella down after use and even wash the vessel out and let it air dry without the umbrella in it which would help with the mold and mildew issue.

    Hi Michael,

The open dimension of the umbrella is 38 inches. The assortment we are selling is the wine bottle just with different designs. Thanks!

This looks great! I love how thin it is! (although I could see how you'd need a bit of practice getting the umbrella that thin when wet...) I wondered if the bottle case is heavy? Is it plastic or metal? Would the bottle dent easily?

    Thanks!

    Hi Y.C..

It's actually takes less practice than you would think. The umbrella naturally wraps pretty tightly and stays thin, especially once you snap it. Then it fits pretty easily back into the bottle.

As far as weight, it measures in at about 1 lb. I am someone who always pushes the limits on how much I shove into my bag so I appreciate that I could throw this in there without lots of extra weight. It's made from ABP plastic.

Love the concept but was disappointed when it came to actually using the umbrella. When it is raining and I am dashing from here to there I don't usually have time to get the umbrella back into the bottle. It has to be wrapped carefully.

    Hi Courtney,

Once the umbrella is wrapped up and snapped, it fits easily right back in the bottle without much fuss. If you happen to be in a very big rush and don't have time to screw the top of the bottle back on, the umbrella will still remain snug in the bottle.

  • Amy

    Hi Trina,

The bottle is made from ABS plastic. It's not a breakable material although I would recommend handling with care to ensure it stays free from knicks and scratches.

It is not auto-open or close. It doesn't take long to open and close however.

Hi - Great Idea!! Wondering the specs. - How much does it weight with the case and what are the measurements? Just wondering how big a purse I would need to carry it and to make sure it's not too heavy.

    Thank you, Ellen

    Hi Ellen

This information is always on our details page which you'll see when you click on the box that says "buy" in orange. Here are the dimensions: the bottle is 12" x 2" in diameter and the 0pen umbrella is 38" diameter. You won't need an especially big or deep purse for the umbrella but something larger than say a clutch is necessary.

So excited to see Vinrella on Grommet. I purchased a Vinrella about a year ago and I love it! It is super easy to use and the designs are cool and hip. When the umbrella gets wet, it is even easier to roll up and store in the bottle. I just open it up later and let it dry. Highly recommend it as a gift, for men too!
