Anywhere Pair

You don’t need one pair of socks for work and another for the gym. Heck, you don’t even need to bring multiple pairs on a weekend trip. You just need Y Athletics. Their silver technology socks are comfortable, odor-fighting, and meant to be worn. And worn. Founder Sam Mazumdar was serious about making the very best performing socks. Instead of working on multiple styles, he wanted Y Athletics to keep innovating until they got this one pair just right. Their SilverAir socks are made from breathable, moisture-wicking Merino wool that’s infused with real silver—a naturally anti-microbial agent that keeps bacteria at bay, and keeps your feet from offending others. A contoured, snug fit helps prevent blisters, too. We even hear that you can wear them several times without washing. We’ll leave how long up to you, or those around you. But no matter how many times you do wash them, the silver in these socks will keep on working. And that will keep you comfortable and odor-free.

Why should people choose Y Athletics over other athletic socks?

  • Sam
    Sam – Special Guest
    2/29/2016 5:55 AM

@Mike Other athletic socks simply don't have the performance, convenience, and comfort that our socks offer. To start with, most athletic socks are made from synthetics. Synthetics in socks have some performance features but don't provide much comfort or odor protection. For our socks, we made a custom blend of Merino Wool + Metallic Silver for the best possible performance and odor control. We added Acrylic for softness, Nylon for durability, and Spandex for stretch recoverability. We knit the sock on a high density 200 needle machine with the finest gauge fibers which results in a soft and silky feel. Best of all, we put our products through extensive testing to make sure they function as intended. We're dedicated to creating premium quality products and really care about the details that make all the difference.

This is an anti-stink sock. If I wear this sock normally every day, no exercise, just walking about, how long can I go without someone gagging at the scent of my feet?

  • Sam
    Sam – Special Guest
    2/29/2016 5:31 AM

@Mike It differs from person to person but most can go a week or two. You can go much longer if you alternate between two pairs of socks every other day. One advice is to let the sock air out before doing the smell test. After being trapped inside shoes, socks are usually moist and you'll smell odor from the sweat. Let the moisture dry and the silver neutralize the odor causing bacteria that's left in the sock and it will smell fresh again.

These socks sound fantastic, how is the wear life of the product?

  • Sam
    Sam – Special Guest
    2/29/2016 10:35 AM

@Mac We design all our products to last 3-5 years and put them through 100 wash cycles as part of our durability testing. The silver itself is not something that will wash away because it is permanently knit into the fabric. The construction of the sock is also top of the line. That said, how long a product lasts really depends on how you use and take care of it.

@Samuel M Nice to meet you, Sam! While Merino Wool is a temperature regulating yarn and does provide some warmth, our socks are lightweight and won't be great just for the purpose of keeping your feet warm. Sorry to disappoint. You should check out some thicker Merino Wool socks. I like Darn Tough and The Grommet has a good selection from them. Search for 'Merino Wool Socks' on the top right search bar and you'll find them.

@Andy There are actually a lot of diabetic products that are made using silver but I'm not sure if it's for cleanliness or for any other benefits. You should ask your doctor about this next time. Our socks neutralize the odor causing bacteria so it's cleaner than regular cotton socks but you can still wash them daily.
