Finally, a package opener that actually works!! I have used this to open several 'clam shell' style packages and it has done the job every time. Highly recommended!More > < Less

I've probably used these about 50 times in the last year, so they come in handy. The only thing I'd change about them is I'd give them a little slimmer profile, because they don't fit in my kitchen drawer on their side. I keep them close by though, in a cabinet in the dining room.More > < Less

About Zip-it

Open Sesame

No one likes a gift you can’t open. Yet those annoying plastic clam-shell packages make it nearly impossible sometimes. They’re sealed tighter than a bank vault, the hard plastic can ruin scissors, and the sharp edges left behind are an accident waiting to happen.

This holiday season, save your hands, scissors and sanity with a Zip-it Opener. It’s a battery-operated device that can cut through hard plastic packaging with no trouble at all. Just attach the Zip-it to your package, press the button and guide the rollers around like you would a can opener. Presto, your items (batteries, toys, tools, fluorescent light bulbs, whatever) are free from their plastic prison, and there are no sharp edges to worry about. Just don’t try it on a can of tomatoes; the Zip-it is intended only for cutting plastic packaging and paper envelopes.

The idea for the Zip-it came from Steve Fisher, a retired dentist who used to struggle to open plastic packages for his mother. Whenever he visited her, she had several waiting for him to open. So what does a good son do? He invents something that his mother can use safely and effectively, and his family pitched in. Steve’s oldest daughter helped design the handle, and his youngest daughter and son-in-law took on operations and distribution. After two years in design and development, their invention is making life easier for all of us, one package at a time.
