As co-founder of Zipbuds, I helped to create the first ever earphones to incorporate zipper integrated cabling. We've all experienced those five minutes of frustration... reaching into our pocket for our earphones only to find a tangled mess.     How heavy is the cable, compared to the earphones that come with my ipod?

    @mejane: The cable is naturally slightly heavier than that of our iPod earphones because of the added zipper material. Throughout our design process our main concern was keeping the weight of the earbuds down. To do so we utilized all of the lightest weight plastics and have found that customers have been thoroughly satisfied with the results.

    Purchased two pairs on Amazon - black for my husband, blue/white for me. Sound quality was good, as other reviewers have stated. But for two runners, these were **horrible** ... would not stay in our ears, despite trying the different size options available and utilizing the black ear wraps. They fell out because of the weight of the zipper connector swinging around. If you unzip it all the way it's a slight improvement, but still they soon come loose from the jostling.

    If you want these for sitting on a train, looking fabulous during a photo shoot, or doing something that otherwise does not require them to stay put while you are in motion, go for it. If you are using them for running, fuggedaboutit.

    @H1202: I'm sorry that Zipbuds haven't worked out for you. We included the sports clips for exactly that reason, added stability while running or working out. We have found that people have had no issues with the weight of the earbuds when the sports clips are properly connected to the cables.

    As a fellow inventor, all I can say is WOW! Great product, great design, great execution, great presentation. Congratulations for knowing to find the 'core' solution to all earbuds...birds-nest entanglement! Less is More!

    You have a home-run on your sure to have good patent protection as the ZipBuds should quality for a utility patent. Congrats!

    @H1202: I was one of the Grommet testers and there are so many occasions that zipbuds work really well; during my morning commute to work, listening to my iPod while traveling, and with my computer at work in effort to not disturb my co-workers. As a runner, I too was interested in how they work for sports, so I tested them and did not have great success on the treadmill. Even with the earclips. While they may work for some people, we could not stand behind the earclip accessory and therefore did not highlight them in the video. That was a minor issue for me, because I don’t like to wear the same sweaty headphones I use for exercise as everyday use. We have not been able to find headphones that are great for the gym. If you know of one, please email us at [email protected] and we will test them in consideration to become a Grommet. I was more than impressed with the level of quality of Zipbuds. With the noise isolation and sound clarity, they are essentially $80 headphones for $40 that I now reach for ever day.

    @Julia Kemp - Daily Grommet Discovery Team: Thank you for your frankness about the clips. I might have bought them today had I not known this, and even with clips, I'm not sure I want to go through the extra step, small as it may be, before going running. I am very interested in this product, but probably not if I cannot interchange them amongst my variety of active and sedentary activities.

    Although an innovative product, the marketing seems to center on sexy young woman with DD cups wooed by guys with Zipbuds. Even if the material isn't toxic, the marketing message may be.

    @Grace: Over here at Grommet, these things are so hard to balance. I can totally see your point of view. Who wants to go back to the bad old days? But at the same time I thought the "chick magnet" marketing was so OVERT and retro-goofy that it felt more like sharing a joke. It was anything but subtle and that made if funny to me--more like a goof on the guys in the video and the company co-founders.

    But here's a message to Erik...are you guys SERIOUS?

    I purchased my pink earphones I think in February, and just today the little "headphone" portion came out. It seems like it should screw back in, but I can't seem to do that. Can you help me?

    Hi..I am looking at buying these for my daughter but she is so hard on earbuds. She must go through at least 4 or 5 pairs each year. This year has been especially difficult she has gone through 4 in the past 3 months. In fact she needs new ones now. Sooo, my question is in regards to durability. How long should they last and since she takes them everywhere and throws them around etc. What can she expect for normal wear and tear. looks like a wonderful product!

    @Felicia Afifi: I have talked with Erik and he says that your daughter should get a few years of use with Zibpud's Kevlar strengthened braided nylon cables.

    There is a 1 year warranty on every pair of Zipbuds sold through an authorized reseller such as DG.

    How about coming up with ear buds that work with in-the-ear hearing aids; lightweight ear buds that cover the ears perhaps. Headphones too often caused sqeaky feedback and are hot.

    Android and all other Media Devices that accept a traditional 3.5mm headphone input.

    Thanks for the great question, Carol! The difference between the two is the Microphone / Remote that comes with it.

    When using the Zipbuds JUICED + Mic/Remote & an enabled smartphone (Most iPhones, Androids, Windows Mobile, and Blackberry) you're able to:

    1. Answer Calls (Press remote button once)

    2. Hang Up-Calls (Press remote button once)

    3. Play/Pause/Skip Songs (Press remote button once)

    4. Activate Voice Control (Long hold down the remote button)

    And, of course the Microphone works great with phone calls and various apps that take advantage of voice features.

    Yes, it works great with your iPad!

    These use a standard 1/8" plug that will work with the iPhone, iPad, portable CD players, etc. Even though the CD player doesn't use a microphone, the plug is made so that it can be used just for listening.

    My daughter is constantly telling me her earbuds stop working. I'm replacing them every month or so, regardless of whether I buy the $5 ones on ebay or the $20 ones from Staples. How durable are your earbuds? What is the warranty on them?

    Going to answer this one in two parts because it's very near and dear to my heart :)

    1. We make Zipbuds using the highest quality components so they won't ever fail you.

    2. Everyone can be bummed out by purchasing something only to have it break a few days later. Being a HUGE gadget person myself I've experienced this problem plenty of times. The biggest issue that I've found is dealing with companies to actually obtain warranty service. Whether they claim a "lifetime warranty" or a "90-day warranty" the warranty is only as good as the company that backs it. For all Zipbuds products we offer a 1-year limited warranty that is backed by a meaningful customer service that treats our customers as we'd like to be treated.

    At Zipbuds, Customer Service, is our primary focus. Which is why we make it extremely easy to obtain warranty service for any of our products, should you ever have any issues. We ALWAYS strive to go above and beyond for our customers.

    How come no one makes earplugs with a separate volume control for each ear? I know I would pay extra for that; and there must be a lot of folks with hearing loss in one ear who could really use that. Maybe someone will do this soon??

    As a mom of four boys, all "technos", I'm thinking stocking stuffers! But, I need at least one more would be awesome and another blue - royal? It helps to color code the household from toothbrushes to suitcases and pillows!!

    i have a pair of these zip buds and loved them especially the no tangle feature. however, after having used them for a year one of the sides stopped working. only hearing in one ear. i got them to work by twisting the zipper a certain way holding it in place w/ an elastic but now that doesnt work either. any possible way i could get a replacement pair? thx

    I think this is an awesome invention~but is there an option to have an earpiece that goes around the ear? Ear buds always fall out of my ear. And my husband only likes the "old school" ear pieces that lay flush to the outer ear. Please let me know! Good work!

    I love the idea of cords that do not tangle. Definity always a problem. I have never been able to wear ear buds. Even the smallest size still falls out with movement. Any chance of creating the type that the ear piece hooks around the outer ear for stability?

    This looks like pure genius! I plan on purchasing the blue one with the mic. If it doesn't work with my Samsung Stratosphere can I return them? I want to use it with both my Sansa MP3 player and my phone.

    Just a quick report on my blue Zipbuds. First, they do exactly what they are advertised to do - shocking in today's market place, I know. They do not get tangled or twisted at all. I also like how long the cord is so I can plug it in to my desktop on the floor and not need an extender. It is also amazing how much ambient noise they do block out, which is perfect for me! My cube was just moved next to the sales bullpen, yuck.

    I will say I've never had "in ear" type of buds before (I've always used the soft covered ones) and they have been a bit of an adjustment. I am using the smallest size rubber covers and am able to keep the volume MUCH lower than I have needed in the past b/c they block out so much noise. However, I am finding I am getting headaches when using them for long periods of time, so I do switch off to my old headphones during the day. I also notice some noise that "travel" up the wire. Not sure how to explain it. For example, I hear when the cable "moves" if that makes sense - not sure how to describe it. I am guessing it is b/c the zipper helps keep it rigid and untangled. Not a big deal however in my opinion. My husband also said he notices a slight difference when I am using them on my cell phone as opposed to my old Bluetooth headset, but again, he said it is a minor difference.

    I hope this helps others make an informed decision when purchasing. Overall, the sound is great and I love not having to listen to sales on the phone all day!

    I have very small ear canals and have as yet to find earbuds that have sound quality and are comfortable. I LOVE the idea of the zipper. When I am jogging the cords are always a tangled frustrating mess. Do you think these will work for me?
